PDF on its way to become an ISO standard

This one is interesting: Jim King’s inside pdf reports on the fact that PDF 1.7 passed the ballot to become the ISO 32000 (DIS) standard by a vote of 13:1. That’s a very good result and will hopefully contribute to the acceptance of PDF document in governments and also when it comes to web standards.

The whole ISO process hasn’t been completed yet. There are a few 100 comments the working group resp. Adobe has to go through and there will be a few more meetings apparently coming up. But – it’s on a good way!

BTW: If you’re interested in the PDF technology as such, make sure to follow Jim’s blog, it contains lots of very interesting information!
