Sony Ericsson V800 first 3G phone to support Flash Lite 1.1?

Today I noticed that SonyEricssons V800 (a 3G/UMTS phone) should have the Flash Lite 1.1 player pre-installed. I read about it in Bill Perrys blog and he got it from a Macromedia employee.

I’d be more than glad it this comes true, but there is a drawback I doubt about this fact…The V800 is published by Vodafone (at least in Germany I was told that it will be exclusively for Vodafone even) and due to several reasons I’m very sure about the fact they didn’t prefer Flash Lite as a content technology for their phones some while ago.

Well, they might have changed their minds after the success in Japan with Flash Lite, which I’d appreciate. But, and that’s my fear – they might deliver a V800 which is so completely branded by them that the Flash Lite player is not contained in each and every localized version of the phone. We’ll have to wait and see…;)

  1. I can happily say it does have Flash Lite. Although there is nothing in the manual or public docs about it existing.

I bought one yesterday (uk), its much the same as Flash Lite in Japan, swf files can be used as screensavers, contacts display (for incoming calls), wallpaper, or just stand alone.
