Virtualizing OS X 10.5 Client on OS X 10.5

by kai 06/12/2008

With VMWare Fusion 2, VMWare has built support for installing the OS X 10.5 server operating system into the product. For various (I suppose licensing) reasons, VMWare Fusion 2 doesn’t allow one to install OS X 10.5 client – the setup wizard of Fusion would just not allow it. The technical reason is basically that […]

Hightlighted borders in LiveCycle Designer

by kai 24/11/2008

I came across a slightly weird issue the other day when building forms in LiveCycle Designer. LC forms offer the nice and simple feature of being able to create form elements that render highlighted in Reader or Acrobat Pro when mandatory. For whatever reason I had a few form elements in which the form element […]

Setting up preview for texlipse on OSX

by kai 15/11/2008

And now for something completely different. When I’m doing writing, I usually try to use LaTeX whenever possible. If you have no idea what I’m talking about – have a look at the Wikipedia entry for LaTeX to get an overview. The 30,000 feet picture is that it’s a way to produce the most beautiful […]

CF 8.0.1: Deleting a file after attaching it to an email

by kai 13/11/2008

There’s a tiny, little new feature in CF 8 Updater 1 that I bet not many people even know about – I didn’t until yesterday. It came up during a discussion on cfaussie about attaching files to outgoing emails just the other day and it basically solves the problem of deleting a file after it […]

The monitoring service is not available

by marcus 19/09/2008

If your CF8 installation starts without error, but returns an error 500 stating something like… “500 the monitoring service is not available” …on each request, then probably your neo-monitoring.xml is corrupt. What’s wrong with those people and their animals :) ?

by kai 17/07/2008

It seems some people I know and who are also more or less heavily involved in the Adobe community have a reasonably “different” relationship to (their) animals. Let’s start with Kay. Well known blogger, friend and co-worker of mine and a fellow Adobe Ambassador. Back in the days, she used to own a goat. Fair […]

Best use of AIR so far? :)

by kai 17/07/2008

I got this via Matt Voerman while having a Skype chat conversation with him. Desktop Keely seems to be very close to being the best use of the AIR technology so far, LOL. Having downloaded the “application” immediately after Mr. Voerman kindly pointed me to this excellent use of the platform, I started to study […]

Adobe Ambassador

by kai 15/07/2008

Just recently, I was appointed to be one of the Adobe Ambassadors for the Pacific region – namely Australia and New Zealand. I hear you asking… “Well, what does it mean?” There’s a pretty easy and nice definition: An Adobe Ambassador is a recognised industry professional whom Adobe has approached to represent them in the […]
